On June 25th the annual Lake Margrethe Young Angler Fishing Derby was held at the guard beach. The sunny smiles of the children matched the beautiful sunny weather. The eleven participants ranged in age from one to fifteen and sixteen fish were brought in for measuring. All walked away with a gift certificate to Skip's.
There are many people to thank: Sgt. Jeremie Mead for ensuring the use of the guard beach and facilities and allowing our entry into camp; Fick and Sons for providing gas for our supply truck; Judge Alton Davis for his continued contributions; Scott "Bud" Zimostrad and his daughter, Abby, for cooking our breakfast; Gary McConnell for recruiting most of the participants; Roger Wilcox for cooking our hot dogs and providing drinks, chips and treats; Ray Basile for helping to set up; Marshall Roe and Hal Helterhoff for their never ending support and advice; Harry Wojcik for assistant and photography; Ken Michalik for setting up and breaking down and measuring of fish; Sandra Michalik for registering youth and presenting awards.
We look forward to planning next year's event. Please feel free to submit a contact form with your ideas and feedback. One thought is to move it later in the summer to increase the number of participants.
