Lake Margrethe Foundation Fund
Dedicated to the Future Preservation of Lake Margrethe

Dear Friends,
You may or may not be aware that there is a “Lake Margrethe Foundation” that was created in 1998 by some innovative members (Joe Porter, Bob Young, Tom Hunt, Don Williams, and Marshall Roe) of the Lake Margrethe Property Owners Association (LMPOA) to preserve and protect the ecological balance and vitality of Lake Margrethe. The Foundation account is part of the North Central Michigan Community Foundation which has a 501 (c) (3) classification and serves the Counties of Crawford, Iosco, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Roscommon.
The Lake Margrethe Foundation is a separate entity from the LMPOA and because it is part of the North Central Michigan Community Foundation, funds contributed to the endowed portion of the fund are tax deductible for State and Federal tax returns where applicable.
Endowed Funds contributed to the Lake Margrethe Foundation will stay in the Foundation forever!! Interest earned from this account will be used for such projects that help preserve and protect the natural beauty of the lake and its surroundings, enhance the area’s natural resources and recreational facilities, preserve and enhance the environment of Lake Margrethe and its watershed, provide educational and training programs to accomplish set goals as well as monitoring and controlling water quality.
The Lake Margrethe Foundation currently has over $138,000 in the endowed portion of the fund. This money will never be spent, with only the interest earned going to the spendable amount. There is no question that this is a lot of money, but the interest earned each year never seems like it goes far enough!
We are asking for your generous support for the “Lake Margrethe Foundation.” Your endowed gift will be deposited in the endowed portion of the fund. It is truly a gift that gives forever!
With these funds, it will assist us in the treatment of Eurasian milfoil, the prevention of erosion, the protection from other foreign invaders, the improvement of road ends, the continued testing of lake water and the improvement of the fishery, for the benefit of the entire watershed. It should also be noted that the funds cannot be spent without the approval of the nine-member board of the LMPOA and the North Central Michigan Community Foundation.
To donate, please send a check/money order to: the “Lake Margrethe Foundation” and send it to the Lake Margrethe Foundation, PO Box 495, Alpena, Michigan 49707. Please note that the donation goes to endowed portion of “Lake Margrethe Foundation.”
