According to Joe Porter, our resident lake watcher, Lake Margrethe became covered with ice on December 18, 2011. This date for the lake to become frozen is 9 days later than the previous three-year average for this beginning of the winter season.

The Boat Parade will occur on July 4, starting in North Bay at 2:00 pm. Reservations can now be made for the dinner show. Read all about the Annual Grange Rally and Crawford County Picnic from an original 1906 event program! The rally and picnic took place on Portage Lake (now Lake Margrethe) on August 16, 1906 near Collen's Landing. Thanks to the late Virginia (Collen) Clyma for saving one of the original programs!
