I am impressed by your work on this issue..., however the road end at Summet needs to be tackled by someone other than the Township Officials" so corrective action is taken. I am most concerned about the fact that during a major rain storm this summer the rain water that was generated upon the Summit hill road ran directly into the lake.Automotive residue, salt, oil and other contaminants were running directly into the lake. I am sure the DEQ would have a few issues regarding this point. This area was to have rip rap all along road end, and the sides in order to act as a filter for the rain that was coming down the hill. The lack of this rip rap is very disconcerting since the milfoil will be fed by the contaminants entering the water. This rip rap was very effective as a screen and we saw less foaming of the water from nitrates...WHen the rip rap was placed we were told this was being done to preserve the lake and prevent the massive contamination from yard waste, etc. We have not been able to have this issue addressed though the Grayling Township official so I now turn my efforts to LMPOA....you are an awesome organization and thank you for your help! Jan Treston Aurand 810-599-3216 Thanks Jan! You make an excellent case (your note below) recognizing the continued importance of maintaining the vitality of Lake Margrethe through certain relatively simple corrective actions. I am very sorry to hear that our Grayling Township government, which previously had much to say about road ends includng the paving and installation of appropriate filtering materials at Summit, now has no interest in the obvious on-going environmental problem in that area. In an effort to get some corrective action started, I am forwarding a copy of this note to members of our Lake Margrethe Property Owners Association board, as well as our DEQ and DNR representatives. Thanks again for your vigilance and concern. Marshall Roe LMPOA member
